-
Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin
America. 75.8% of Nicaraguans live on less than
$2.00 a day...
-
And the country's poverty most severely
affects women and children.
-
But In 2015, 52 women took the opportunity to open
their own Mercado Fresco micro-franchise.
-
Their desire is to provide for their children and
give them hope for a better future.
-
Sales from the stores have increased their income from
less than $2.00 a day to an average of $7.00 a day.
-
11 of the 52 women have formed a leadership
committee that connects, supports, and coaches other
women on how to have successful stores.
-
Our in-country Nicaraguan staff has grown
to 16 employees.
-
And has offered our women budgeting help,
health screenings, legal services, personal
development planning, and counseling for
individuals and families.
-
This 2015, we introduced 72 new products, including
nacatamales and roasted chicken.
-
Because of the Mercado Fresco stores in their
communities, 21,700 children had access to healthy,
nutritious food.
-
Rosa feels like Super Mama now that she is
able to contribute to family needs.
-
Gloria is now able to provide her children
with proper nutrition and school supplies.
-
Because Indira is able to earn a reliable income,
she is able to provide much needed medical care
for her children.
-
Because Jeaneth’s income tripled, she was finally
able to get her son the bike he’s been asking for
-
Marta is able to provide snacks for 40 kids that
visit her home every Saturday for games and
Bible stories.
-
Leanor is able to travel to rural parts of the
country to advocate for those with even less
than she has.
-
Esmerelda is starting off 2016 able to pay her debts!
-
Because of your generosity, 2016 will mean 60
more women will receive the opportunity to work
their way out of poverty
-
They will receive hands on support from
Supply Hope staff to set up their store.
-
The Supply Hope team will hang banners, help
pass out flyers to the neighbors, and be present
for the store’s grand opening.
-
On Kathy’s set-up day, she said, “The store is a
blessing. It allows me to invest in my kids' education,
that’s the first thing I want to do.”
-
Raquel and Ester have a better future because
their mom is now able to earn a reliable income.
-
Same with Danny and Angel
-
and Jazmina
-
And Jarred
-
And Chelsea
-
And Hector
-
And because of
you, so many
other lives will
change in 2016.
Thank You.
